Day 77
“Book marketing takes patience and the perusal
of goals.”
~Heather Hart
I use to think that I was a patient person. 4 children
later, I've learned otherwise. But it’s true even when it comes to marketing.
I’ll send out a blog tour inquiry, or post something on Facebook, and then the
waiting starts. When my first book came out, I would check Amazon almost daily
to see if any new reviews had came in. Now you might have noticed this, nobody
else is running on the same time frame that you are. They don’t know they have
an e-mail from you in their inbox – or maybe they do and they just don’t have
the time to get to it. The people reading your books will write a review when
and if they feel like it – not moments before you check for it.
Yes, marketing our books takes patience, but also the
perusal of goals. We can’t just stop what we’re doing and wait for the reviews
to roll in or our e-mails to be responded to, we have to keep moving forward.
We have to keep pressing on and pursing our goals. Otherwise, we may never get
there.
Marketing prompt:
Compose an e-mail for your mailing list asking them if they
would be willing to write a review of your book if they haven’t already. If
they haven’t read your book, offer a free review copy to the first 5 people
that respond.
