Day 71
“In my opinion, understanding who your target
audience is, and what they want, and writing to them (and only them!) is the
most important component of being successful as an author.”
~ John Locke
Connecting with your readers is important. Learning what
other types of books they like, and even reading those books, can help you to
write for them, but also market directly to them. If you can figure out what
they are reading, and what they are saying about it, then you are that much
closer to getting them to buy (and read) your book.
One way you can learn about and connect with your readers is
through Goodreads.com. It is the largest reader and book recommendation site in
the world, and they encourage authors to set up author profiles and connect
with fans. Chances are your book is already listed if it’s been published for
an extended period of time, might as well assign your face to it. If it’s not
listed you can add it for free.
Marketing prompt:
Register with Goodreads.com
if you aren't already. Make sure your profile is linked to your book, and share
some quotes from your book.

The main reason I write is to help other authors. I would love your feedback or suggestions for future posts or devotions. You can leave a public comment here, or use my contact form to send me a private message.
