“You think someone else should do
the marketing? It would be nice if it worked that way, but it doesn't...”

Starting new marketing tactics can
become overwhelming and it’s sometimes tempting to hire someone who knows what
they are doing. But no one will put as much effort into marketing your book as
you. If you’re spending x minutes per day marketing, and decide to pay someone
to help you, they will probably spend half that time marketing. It’s not their
book. They are going to get paid the same amount no matter what, so results are
probably not as important to them. Sure, if your book does well they can add it
to their resume, but in the end you and your book are just numbers to them.
You have the heart for your book.
You’re passionate about it. You put in the hours to write it and get it published
– you’re the best candidate to market it. You just need to keep pressing on,
and growing your marketing knowledge and ability.
Marketing prompt:
Review your list of marketing
activities that you’re doing and that you want to get better at, etc. Has the
list changed since you first started this challenge? Make sure it’s up to date
and adjust your marketing efforts accordingly.
