“Word–of–mouth marketing has always been important. Today, it’s more
important than ever because of the power of the Internet.”
~ Joe Pulizzi and Newt Barrett
Word-of-mouth marketing is probably the single most
important type of marketing there is. Having someone tell someone else about
your book is huge, but they can’t tell someone about it if they haven’t heard
of it themselves – that’s where your part comes in. As an author, you have to
be able to talk about your book. Beyond the tweets. Beyond the ads. Simply
using words to tell another person about your book is the best thing you can
ever do to market your book – and words are what we’re good at.
Marketing prompt:
Tell one person about your book today. It could be someone
at the grocery store or in a forum, or even your Auntie Em over the telephone.
It doesn’t matter who you tell – someone needs to be talking about your book,
and you’re the best person for the job.
