Let Your Reader's Be Creative

Day 171

“Many a small thing has been made large by the right kind of advertising.”
~ Mark Twain

I have seen some amazing marketing tactics over the years. We've already covered a lot of them, but there’s always more. Every day an author is coming up with a new way to market their books. But for today, I want to look at one that one of my favorite authors does. Jody Hedlund has a place on her blog (and even a Pinterest board) where she places all of the photos that readers send her of them with one (or more) of her books.

Photo submitted to Jody's website by Lindsay Harrel
I have to tell you, the first time I received one of her books in the mail, I wanted to take a picture and send it in right away (sadly my camera was in the shop at the time). It was a great idea. I have heard of other authors holding Facebook contests were in order to be entered to win, the reader’s had to change their profile photos to one of them with the book – free publicity (although I'm not sure this is still allowed with Facebook's policy changes). Any time you can get your readers to take a photo of themselves with your book, there’s a good possibility that they will share the photo with more than just you. That’s who knows how many eyes seeing your book cover – and exposure really does generate sales.

Marketing prompt:

Add a photo gallery to your website, where readers can send you photos of them with your books to be featured on your website.

I mentioned last week that my computer crashed last month, so in order to save up the money I need to get a new one, I'm hosting a book marketing webinar next week.

If you are new to the book marketing scene or have been trying to market your books, but are failing to see the results you long for I'd love for you to check out my webinar. By attending you'll learn how to make a book marketing plan that works for you, gain confidence in your marketing abilities, and discover how to make marketing your book fun!

Plus, when you register within the next before this evening, you'll also get my new report, 200+ Ways to Market Your Book, a chance to win free advertising for your book, and 5 author training courses (valued at over $70) - if you miss it, it will still be available for an extra 10 bucks until the day of the webinar (next Tuesday) so you can still save over $60.
