Friday Frizzles

Last week was just one of those weeks for me. I had my normal "to do" list. The same tasks that I complete each and every week. I have a system to get them all done, it usually works out just fine. But not last week. Last week when Friday rolled around I still hadn't crossed a single thing off of my to do list. Sure I had worked all week, but I hadn't finished anything. I had started multiple projects, but nothing seemed to come together the way that it normally did.

As I sat at my desk that day, staring at the now intimidating list, I thought about motivation. What motivates writers to do the tasks they have to do each week; whether it be writing an e-mail, a press release, doing research for an article, website formatting, or just working on a story?

You see, there really isn't anything in life that I would rather do then write. However, life happens. To be successful as a writer, you have to do more than just write. You have to do the research, marketing, maintenance, and everything else required to pay the bills and live in your home with your family. It isn't simply about writing. It's about producing.

I don't know if you have ever been frizzled on a Friday, but no matter how long a 'to do' list seems, it can be completed, or split up. I have learned that if it comes to a Friday and my list is impossibly long I know that I can move some things to the following week, and/or put in extra hours on the weekend. I normally save my blogging for the weekend and schedule posts, but if needed, I can write and publish a press release on Saturday.

So what do you do when you have weeks that leave you with the Friday Frizzles? I'd love to hear how you handle it.

  1. I'm not a good one to ask, because I almost always end up working on Saturday. :(

But, good news! You won the movie from my blog. If you want to DM me your physical address through Twitter, I'll get it on its way to you!

  2. Thanks, Robin! I'm so excited, and can't wait to watch it! I sent the message just a little bit ago.

The main reason I write is to help other authors. I would love your feedback or suggestions for future posts or devotions. You can leave a public comment here, or use my contact form to send me a private message.
