“You must focus on using your time effectively every single day to get
your message out.”
~Jim Edwards
As authors, it can be easy to procrastinate. With the pressure of book marketing and building our online presence, we might waste hours on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. And then all of a sudden we realize that we've missed a marketing opportunity, or that something we signed up to be a part of is quickly approaching and we aren't ready.
Time management is one of the key elements to successful
marketing. That’s one of the reasons that planning is so important. In order to
manage your time efficiently, you first have to know where you’re going and how
much time you have to get there. You can do anything you set your mind to – as long
as you budget your time accordingly.
Marketing prompt:
Get out your calendar and examine what it looks like. How
much time do you have for marketing each day? Can you spend 3 hours a day on
marketing, or 15 minutes? If possible, set a specific time each day for book
marketing. Once you figure out how productive you can be during that time, you’ll
know how far in advance (and how far apart) you need to schedule marketing
campaigns.
