Day 176
“Never write an advertisement which you wouldn't want your family to read. You wouldn't tell lies to your own wife. Don't tell them to mine.”
~David Ogilvy
Your marketing should be 100% authentic. Don't try to
mislead people. Don't tell them they will get something free if they won’t.
Don't tell them that your book will change their life unless you are 100% sure
that it will. Be real. Be honest. Be accountable.
Have you ever read an ad that was misleading? When you find
out that you've been lead on, it’s frustrating. If you wouldn't want someone to
do it to you, don’t do it to them. If you're married, imagine how you would
feel if someone directed the ad at your spouse. Would you be okay with it? Make
sure your advertising is something you would be okay with if it was directed at
you and yours.
Marketing prompt:
Double check some of your marketing methods to make sure
that you aren't misleading people. Be very upfront about what you are
offering, how much it costs, and how they can get it.
