21 Ways to Market Your Book

I'm working on a new project for next year, and in the process I needed to brainstorm the different ways to market a book. Here are 21 of the things I came up with:

  1. Blogging
  2. Writing Articles/Guest Posts
  3. Paid or Free Advertising
  4. Networking
  5. Optimizing/Updating Website/Salespage
  6. Speaking Engagements/Teleseminars
  7. Author Interviews
  8. Podcasting
  9. Press Releases
  10. Setting Up/Maintaining a Mailing List
  11. Writing, Formatting, Editing, and Publishing a Book
  12. Quote Photos
  13. Hold a Giveaway or Contest
  14. Create/Handout Bookmarks or Business Cards
  15. Create/Hang Posters
  16. Register Your Book with a New Site or Database
  17. Contact Bookstores
  18. Solicit Book Reviews
  19. Attend a Conference or Book Fair
  20. Create Your Own Gear
  21. Learn More About Marketing
What can you add to that list?

  1. First of all I would like to say great blog! I had a
quick question which I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Cheers!

  3. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I
could add to my blog that automatically tweet
my newest twitter updates. I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
