Networking the Net

Social media is one of those things that most people have a love/hate relationship with.

We love it... so much that it eats our time and then we end up hating it.

As author's it eat's up our time.

We need it for marketing, research and, well, human interaction, but we don't need it to rule our days.

The other day I had an epiphany:

What if we actually used social media socially?

Stay with me now.

What if instead of spending hours repining pins, reading blogs, and skimming status updates, we responded to those same things?

What if we never re-pinned a pin without first commenting on in?

What if we never read a blog post without committing to comment?

What if instead of simply re-tweeting someone, we responded to their tweets?

What if we used the internet for networking, instead of just information gathering/sharing?

What if...

Would it take even more time?

Maybe.

Would it yield more results?

Definitely.

Is it worth it?

You tell me.
