I've been doing a lot of studying up preparing for the conference. Trying to figure out what I need to take, and how prepared I should be, and here's what I have learned:
- Be prepared for ANYTHING! Take business cards, book proposals, resumes - anything you can possibly think of that you might want someone in the publishing world to see.
- Brush up on your staff knowledge - know who's going to be there, who they are, and what they do. The better you get to know them before you go, the more likely you will be to actually connect with them at the conference.
- Dress professionally, yet comfortably. This particular retreat suggests that we dress in layers, wearing slacks or jeans to ensure we are comfortable.
Have you ever been to a writer's conference?
If so, do you have any tips that you could share with me?
